German and Bavarian Oompah Band
Since its formation in 1986, Die Schunkelmeister German & Bavarian
Oompah Band has gained an excellent and enviable reputation for
superb musical performances which exactly recreate the traditional
Teutonic ambience and boisterous conviviality found in the massive
Bierhalle at the Marienplatz in Munich, Bavaria
Due to the professionalism of this performance, Die Schunkelmeister
is widely regarded by event managers and party planners as the United
Kingdom’s premier ensemble for infusing authentic Germanic
ambience into prestigious corporate hospitality events such as product
& flight launches, sales promotions, company expansions and
developments, anniversaries, etc. When required to play for the
more raucous, ‘thigh-slapping’ generic-type of party
event, Die Schunkelmeister ‘ups the ante’ by introducing
a programme of Drinking Songs and authenticated Germanic games and
competitions in order to ensure en masse audience participation
Led by Bandleader and Stimmungsmacher Hansl Mueller, Die Schunkelmeister
has, as would be expected, an extensive repertoire of the most well-loved
and well-known German & Bavarian songs and melodies, ranging
from Marches to Waltzes and Schunkeln to Schuhplättler. Examples
derived from the band’s play-list include: In München
steht ein Hofbräuhaus; Trink, Trink, Brüderlein Trink;
Die Dorfmusik; Unter dem Doppel Adler; Alte Kameraden; Rosamunde;
Bier her, Oder Ich fallum; Reit im Winkl; etc - all of which
are complemented by the world-renowned Drinking Toast: Ein
Posit der Gemütlichkeit. When requested, the band can
also play Austrian, Swiss & Alpine melodies
Composed entirely of first-rate, BBC musicians, the band’s
standard musical line-up consists of Clarinet, Accordion + Vocals,
Guitar and Tuba, with all vocals sung in German. Further instrumental
augmentations include: Trumpet, Trombone and Drums. Finally, to
complete the package, the band is supplied fully-costumed with a
professional-quality PA sound system
